These are typically used with small diameter hoses for water, fluids, and certain chemicals (refer to chemical resistance chart) where metal materials are not preferred. The White Nylon NY suffix series are generally made from non-toxic NSF 61 food grade raw materials, but are not considered NSF Certified finished goods and therefore MAY NOT be recommended for use in all types of Food or Beverage systems (end user to determine suitability of nylon, as an option we recommend the use of 304 / 316 grade Stainless Steel).
As a general guide only, the White Nylon are rated for pressures up to 150 psi at 20°C (70°F) at ambient room temperatures. The maximum temperature range for White Nylon is 80°C (175°F) and the Black Polypropylene is 66°C (150°F) - but at higher temperatures of these materials, the maximum pressure rating drops significantly. Many unique configurations are available to minimize pipe fittings/reducers and allow for neat plumbing in compact areas. Black Polypropylene (suffix PP), PTFE, and Kynar (NK) are also available on special request. Other threads, configurations, & sizes are also available on special request with minimum package requirements (BSPT, Metric, UNF, 1/16, 10-32, single barbs, compact versions, custom colours, etc.). As a general guide, nylon should NOT be used with compressed gases, acid-based fluids, xylene, chlorine, or applications subject to ozone. It should be noted that chlorine in water systems combined with elevated temperatures can produce an oxidizing environment that will shorten the life of nylon based materials. Polypropylene should NOT be used with compressed gases, aromatic hydrocarbons, xylene, certain acids, sodium hydrochlorite, and applications subject to ozone. Always refer to a chemical resistance chart for proper material selection.
