Brass Compression Fittings For Flexible Copper Tube - 912


Traditional compression fittings have a separate sleeve, nut and insert, and are sold based on the outside diameter of the air or water tubing they are being used on. They are largely being replaced with "push-in" style fittings due to the ease of installation (compression fittings can be timely and require extra parts or tools). Many users can simply use our Acetal (nylon) Push-in Series when attaching to any plastic type tubing as well as flexible copper tubing. These compression fittings listed are NOT for gas connections or DOT air brake use. Brass is a soft material and susceptible to distortion, cracking, cross threading, etc. when over tightened. Users must ensure tubing is cut clean and square for a proper seal. As a general guide only, they may have an intermittent temperature range of -54°C (-65°F) to +121°C (+250°F), however at wide temperature ranges the maximum pressure rating drops significantly. Compression fittings use three or four components per fitting to put pressure on the tubing's O.D. (outer diameter) to create a secure seal. Compression fittings are manually installed with wrenches and are commonly used in applications involving fluids, air, or certain gases (depending on the application, they are available in various metals or plastics, as well for various certifications). Compression fittings have been around for decades, and in recent years there has been a surgence towards newer "push-in" or "push to connect" style fittings which are more quickly installed. Compression style fitting offers good flow characteristics because the interior of the tubing is unencumbered by inserts such as barbs. They are also compact and shorter in length compared to insert style fittings. Depending on the application and materials involved (plastic, metal), the fittings may be reused.
